sölveig stay. what makes us stand out.
You’ve seen the storage container-converted living space all over the web…seems like a decent concept, right?
We’ve thought so too…for a long time. From permitting, building and designing, it has been one heck-of-a journey (harder than a game of tetris) and we are so excited for it to FINALLY be enjoyed by you.
Our space is curated into what, we think, makes for an opulent stay. We kept the good parts of sleeping in the middle of the woods and simply added a few key ingredients… think chilled bottle of champagne and a down comforter to accompany.
But in our opinion, the epitome of a relaxing evening can only be found in one place…a sauna.
Which means leaving a sauna out of our 480 square foot unit was *not* an option. Our state-of-the-art nordic sauna is lined with cedar, has a Wi-Fi enabled stove (let us know when you’re arriving and we’ll have it hot when you get here!), and a window overlooking an expansive wilderness view. Enjoy our luxurious shower and patio cold plunge in-between to maximize your experience.*
Sölveig Stay isn’t simply a box to sleep in…it was designed to heighten your senses and experience the outdoors in a new flavor.
*Not sure of all of the benefits or best way to utilize a sauna? Fear not, our on-site iPad is full of tutorials and play-by-play instructions to help you reach optimal levels of enjoyment.

〰️
location 〰️
Sölveig Stay is located in South Range, Wisconsin - never heard of it? GOOD! Tucked back in the woods just 1/4 mile (easy walk) off the sandy shores of Lake Superior with access to the Amnicon River, our location is a hidden gem and one of our best-kept secrets.
We are 30-minute drive from Duluth and just 40 minutes from the North Shore of Lake Superior (and the numerous hikes available in that neck of the woods that you are probably already aware of). This means we are also about an hour from the Bayfield/South Shore area (think endless sandy beaches/Madeline Island/beautiful water/jumping rocks - and some incredible hikes you might be less aware of). Our central location allows for ample exploration of both the North and South shore of Lake Superior (assuming you want to leave our property…
which you probably won’t).
Amenities
Sauna.
It wouldn’t be a true North experience without your own private cedar sauna; electric, WiFi-enabled HUUM stove for ease of use. All sauna tools as well as bathrobes, towels, and washcloths are provided.
Cold Plunge.
Cold immersion is amazing and it pairs so well with sauna that we just couldn’t have one without the other. Use our outdoor stock tank as much or as little as you can handle.
Fireplace.
With the click of a button make the evening cozy with our Minnesota-made stove. Placed in view of the…
King bed.
With rest being the goal of our space, we don’t skimp in the comfort department around here. You will love our award-winning Nectar mattress.
Kitchen(s).
Also plural; indoor & outdoor. Inside kitchen is equipped with an electric stovetop, fridge, freezer, toaster oven, large sink, all utensils/cookware, and a plethora of coffee-making contraptions. Too nice of a day to spend any time inside? Use the Traeger grill on the patio (grilling made so easy there’s no chance of an overcooked steak ruining your evening).
Outdoor Solo-Stove.
Microwaving s’mores is sin.
Shower.
Enjoy our luxury shower just a step outside of the sauna with a view of the woods.
Bikes.
Nothing fancy, just a solid transportation option to get to the beach (1/4 mile away).
WiFi.
Ever wondered how well Elon Musk’s creation actually works? In the woods? We were too. And are very impressed. Speeds are insanely fast.
